Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, Randy Abbey, has confirmed that some locally based players have been included in the initial Unity Squad, as preparations for upcoming national team engagements take shape.
Speaking on the structure of the squad, Abbey revealed that a standby list has also been prepared. This is to ensure smooth replacements in the event of injuries or unforeseen absences among selected players.
“There are locally based players in the first squad, and we’ve also made provisions for standby players just in case anyone gets injured or can’t make it,” Abbey stated.
The inclusion of Ghana Premier League players in the Unity Cup lineup is seen as a positive step toward increasing competition and visibility for local talents on the national stage
The Ghana Football Association is expected to announce the full list in the coming days, as the Black Stars ramp up preparations for upcoming assignments.
