RAG Chairman Accuses GFA Boss of Marginalising Referees, Demands Unpaid Allowances

The Chairman of the Referees Association of Ghana (RAG), George Saijah, has accused Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku of sidelining referees and neglecting their welfare.

In an interview on Asempa FM, Saijah claimed that under Okraku’s leadership, referees have been excluded from key decisions and reforms, particularly in appointments.

“It’s unacceptable that another body is appointing referees when RAG still exists,” he said, adding that discussions with the GFA president yielded no commitment.

He also raised concerns about unpaid allowances, revealing that referees across the Premier League, Division One, and Women’s League are owed 22 weeks in arrears.

“Out of 34 weeks, only 12 have been paid. We can no longer pre-finance matches,” he said, calling on former President John Mahama and the Chief of Staff to intervene.

The GFA is yet to officially respond, though sources within the association have described Saijah’s comments as “unfortunate,” with a statement expected soon.
