Racing de Santander and Levante UD are set to meet at the Estadio El Sardinero with both sides in the midst of poor winless runs in the Segunda Division as the away side aims to get back into the top three this weekend.

Levante have struggled in their promotion battle in recent weeks with a three-game winless run and without a victory throughout March.

It means their last victory came in a 3-1 victory over Lugo that saw Robert Ibanez, Pablo Martinez and Mohamed Bouldini all score a goal each, as Levante saw 71% of the ball that day.

However, Javier Calleja’s men have gone on to lose 3-0 with Huesca and draw with Albacate 0-0 and Malaga 0-0 throughout this past month. Worse yet, Jorge de Frutos was sent off for Levante last time out against Malaga and now misses this game.

Despite the poor run of form, the club are still in fourth heading into this weekend’s action and they can move up into second if they can win here and if Las Palmas and Granada lose.

This comes off the back of 14 wins and 14 draws for Levante, and they have also lost the fewest games in Spain’s second tier this campaign with just four defeats from 32 games – only Las Palmas can match this.

At the same time, only Las Palmas and Brurgos have a better defensive record with 21 and 20 goals conceded, respectively, compared to Levante’s 22.

As for Racing Club, they remain in 17th for another week after drawing with Lugo last weekend thanks to a stunning equaliser in the 98th minute from German Sanchez.

The club also saw 23 shots that day and saw 72% of the ball away from home and were well deserving of their point.

Racing met with Huesca two weeks before this and drew 1-1 with them after Jorge Pombo scored a penalty in the first half. Their last win came in a 1-0 victory away to Malaga, which was arguably their best win of the season given how it propelled them far away from the relegation zone. Inigo Vicente scored that day.

Racing are now ahead of Malaga by 11 points in the table and sit above Sporting Gijon just behind them in 18th by one point. At the same time, the club are still only four behind the top 10.

Forebet predicts a draw in this game and for the game to see under 2.5 goals.
