Saturday brings us action from the French top flight and this upcoming clash between Montpellier and PSG at the Stade de la Mosson with PSG already crowned as the Ligue 1 title holders and Montpellier siting in the safety of 13th place with no danger of being relegated.

Nevertheless, the hosts will be keen to try and topple the French champions in their own backyard on Saturday as Montpellier look to halt a dismal run of seven games without a win in Ligue 1, a poor sequence of results that have seen the hosts draw twice and lose on five occasions.

Points picked up in draws with Reims and Metz have been overshadowed by the five losses which were incurred against Brest, Marseille, Lens, Lyon and Clermont.

But perhaps one thing in Montpellier’s favour is the fact that four of these five defeats were handed out to them away from home.

It’s certainly been a lean period in Ligue 1 overall for Montpellier though who have won just three of their last 17 matches and are without a win in their last six games on home soil.

Newly crowned Ligue 1 title holders, PSG, will be keen to finish their season on a high note.

The visitors make their way to the Stade de la Mosson for this Saturday’s encounter with Montpellier, especially as PSG are also without a win in the French top flight in their last three games.

Although they haven’t lost, PSG have been held to draws in each of their last three league matches after being held by Lens 1-1, Strasbourg 3-3 and Troyes 2-2.

So the visitors will no doubt be eager to return to winning ways this weekend.

PSG had previously strung together an impressive four-match winning streak which consisted of victories over Lorient, Clermont, Marseille and Angers but results away from home haven’t all gone PSG’s way this term.

Indeed, the new title holders have managed to capture just three wins out of their last 10 outings on the road.

And having drawn four and lost three of these 10 away games in recent times, PSG are by no means guaranteed a result here either.

In reality, PSG should win this one though as the visitors look to make a point on their way to lifting the Ligue 1 trophy.
