Head coach of the Ghana national under-17 football team, Prosper Narteh Ogum, has pledged to build a formidable side capable of competing at the highest level following the signing of a new two-year contract.
Speaking after extending his stay with Ghana’s U-17 team, Dr. Ogum expressed gratitude to the Ghana Football Association for the confidence shown in him.
“I am grateful to the Ghana Football Association for the trust and stability this contract provides. Our focus is clear — to build a technically sound, tactically disciplined and mentally strong team that can compete at the highest level in Africa,” he told Ghana FA Media.
He added:
“We are not just preparing for a tournament; we are building a foundation for the future of Ghana football.”
Dr. Ogum, who succeeded Coach Frimpong Manso, has already steered the Black Starlets to qualification for the 2026 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations, scheduled for April.
Beyond his role with the national U-17 team, he also serves as the GFA’s Head of Education — a position that highlights his expertise in player development, technical instruction and structured growth systems.
Ogum previously guided Asante Kotoko SC to the 2022 Ghana Premier League title and led West African Football Academy to a remarkable second-place league finish. His résumé also includes spells with Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs and a stint as assistant coach of the Ghana national football team B, further strengthening his credentials at the national level.
