Promising Medeama defender Nurudeen Abdulai earns late Black Stars invite for Nigeria and Uganda games

Medeama SC promising defender Nurudeen Abdulai has been handed a late call up to join the Black Stars ahead of the upcoming friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda respectively.

The fast-rising defender left Ghana on early Tuesday to join the Black Stars preparations in Morocco. The team has already commenced preparation for the two friendlies this month.

Abdulai earned his debut call-up last year during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Madagascar and Comoros.

The 19-year-old has been impressive for the Yellow and Mauve since earning his debut invite last year.

Putting on a stellar performance, Nurudeen Abdulai racked up three goals in 30 appearances for the Medeama last season. He also grabbed four man of the match awards after exhibiting top performance during the 2022/23 season.

This season, the defender has starred for the Tarkwa-based club in both league and CAF Champions League. He has 12 league appearances and 7 in the Champions league.

The Black Stars are set to clash with Nigeria on Friday, March 22, 2024, at the Grande Stade Marrakech, followed by a match against Uganda at the same venue four days later.
