Prince Owusu hails Kotoko’s fighting spirit after dramatic comeback against Medeama

Asante Kotoko assistant coach Prince Owusu says he is pleased with his side’s resilience after they battled from two goals down to secure a 2–2 draw against Medeama at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.

Kotoko were stunned early, conceding inside five minutes through Derrick Fordjour before Yussif Mubarik’s 18th-minute penalty left them trailing 2–0 and searching for answers.

But the Porcupine Warriors regrouped after the break and halved the deficit in the 69th minute when Peter Amidu Acquah reacted sharply in the box to fire home. The pressure mounted, and deep into stoppage time, captain Samba O’Neil powered in a 95th-minute header to complete the comeback and send the stadium roaring.

Speaking after the match, Owusu praised the team’s response and the effort shown despite their demanding schedule.

“I’m happy. We couldn’t go out losing all the three points. It was very tough for us, but the boys gave a good fight in the second half to draw. We are very happy with the result,” he said.
“We’ve been all over the country considering our schedule, and to perform against one of the best teams in the league, I think the boys have done well.”

Kotoko sit fifth on the GPL table with 21 points after 12 matches and now turn their attention to an away trip to Hohoe United in matchday 13.
