President John Dramani Mahama has praised the Black Queens for their impressive performance at the just-ended Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where they clinched a bronze medal.
The President, together with Vice President Jane Nana Opoku Agyemang, hosted the team at the Jubilee House to celebrate their success and encourage them to strive for even greater achievements.
“The Vice President Jane Nana Opoku Agyemang and myself, we are happy to receive you. We followed your game very keenly, especially Nana Jane, she was your chief supporter. Your style of play was, I mean, fantastic,” President Mahama said.
“So on behalf of myself and Jane, I want to congratulate you, thank you for the good job you did. We’ll keep watching your progress and I’m sure that in the not too distant future we’ll come with something more worthy than bronze, maybe silver or even maybe gold,” the President added.
The President commended the players, technical team and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) leadership for their dedication.
He described their performance as courageous despite facing a host nation determined to win.
