Premier League Top Scorer Odds

Tips & Predictions

With the Premier League season fast approaching, each team will be hoping that their talisman can put away the goals to fire them up the league. Here we will take a look at those finishers who will likely find themselves in a golden boot race come the end of the season.

We preview the favourites for the Premier League top goalscorer.

Erling Haaland – 8/11

It is no surprise that Erling Haaland is the clear favourite to be the Premier League’s top goalscorer next season after his 2022/23 campaign. The Norwegian took to the Premier League like a duck to water as he netted 36 times in 38 games, a league record.

Haaland started the season with a bang as he a brace on his debut. Questions were asked when he touched the ball just eight times in his next game Bournemouth, but he was quick to silence the critics. He would go on to score eight goals in his next four league matches including back-to-back hat-tricks.

Some expected Haaland’s scoring rate to eventually ease off but it was not to be and his 36-goal tally saw him score more than both Everton and Wolves last season. He doesn’t look like slowing down any time soon and at 8/11 it is hard to see anyone else taking the golden boot away from Manchester City’s number nine.

Harry Kane – 6/1

In any other year, Harry Kane’s 2022/23 season would have been hailed as one of the great individual Premier League seasons, but Haaland’s dominance and Tottenham’s lacklustre team performance saw him fly somewhat under the radar.

It is not often we see a player score 30 goals in a single season and not even be in the conversation for the Golden Boot, but such is the new norm with Haaland in the league. Kane’s 30 goals last season would have made him the Premier League top scorer in 23 other seasons, but not this one; pretty harsh on a player who scored 30 goals in the 2017/18 season and also lost out that year to Mohamed Salah.

Should Haaland return to any sort of normality, which seems unlikely, and should Harry Kane still be in the Premier League next season, which is anyone’s guess, he will certainly be up there in terms of rankings and at 6/1 could provide good value of Ange Postecoglou can get a tune out of his Spurs side to support Kane.

Mohamed Salah – 7/1

Mohamed Salah’s league tally of 19 goals last season was a lacklustre effort by his high standards and the Egyptian will be hoping to be back in with a shout for the Golden Boot next season.

Salah is no stranger to being the top scorer in the Premier League having picked up the Golden Boot award on three separate occasions. Haaland was not the first to have a smash hit first season and Salah will likely claim that he did it first as he netted 32 times in his first season for Liverpool, a stat made more impressive by the fact that he was playing as a winger.

Many expect Liverpool to return to their best next season and that will also require Salah to be firing on all cylinders. If he is, then there’s no reason why he can’t break the 30 goal mark and go close at 7/1 for the title of Premier League top scorer.
