Newly crowned champions of the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League, Police Ladies FC, have issued a heartfelt appeal to the Government of Ghana and stakeholders for financial and logistical support as they prepare for the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League.
The team booked their place in the continental tournament after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Ampem Darkoa Ladies in the league final on Sunday.
The win marks a historic achievement for Police Ladies and places them on the continental stage as Ghana’s sole representative in Africa’s premier women’s club competition.
With the CAF Women’s Champions League expected to kick off later this year, Police Ladies are racing against time to finalize preparations, including securing funds for travel, training camps, equipment, and player welfare.
“We are appealing to the government and to all Ghanaians to support us,” the club said. “This is not just about Police Ladies; it’s about Ghana. We want to represent the country well, but we need the resources to do that.”
The club’s management emphasized that early and adequate funding would be key to ensuring Ghana makes a strong impact at the tournament, particularly as other competing nations continue to invest heavily in their women’s teams.
The Ghana Football Association is expected to liaise with the Ministry of Youth and Sports to explore avenues for support, as the team prepares to carry the hopes of the nation into Africa.
