Players that want to play for Ghana at the world cup should be ready to feature in the AFCON qualifiers – Agyemang Badu

Ghana international, Agyemang Badu has indicated that any player willing to play for Ghana at the 2022 FIFA World Cup should also be ready to feature in the qualifiers for the 2023 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Following Ghana’s qualification to this year’s world cup, several players who have displayed reluctance to play for the national team are now said to be considering making the switch.

According to Agyemang Badu, although he has no problem with that, any player that decides to make the switch should be ready to play in the AFCON qualifiers as well and not just at the world cup.

“Those who wouldn’t have any problem switching nationality must be ready for the 2023 AFCON qualifiers so they get familiar with the terrain, It shouldn’t be that the player plays the world cup and that’s it,” Agyemang Badu told 3Sports.

The likes of Eddie Nketiah and Callum Hudson-Odoi are two players that could successfully switch allegiance from England to play for Ghana before the close of this year.
