The Pink Ladies Cup, taking place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is facing possible cancellation due to rising tensions in the Middle East.
The Black Queens, Ghana’s senior women’s national team, arrived in Dubai to participate in the tournament on Wednesday, which was set to serve as a key preparatory event for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
However, with the escalation of conflict in the region, flights to and from the UAE have been cancelled, leaving many travelers, including the Black Queens, stranded.
The Ghana Football Association has been informed of the situation, and efforts are underway to repatriate the team.
The Pink Ladies Cup was set to feature Ghana, Hong Kong, Russia, and Tanzania, with matches scheduled from February 28 to March 6, 2026.
The tournament’s cancellation would be a blow to Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 WAFCON.
Ghana beat Hong Kong 4-0 in their opening game, however.
