Manchester City star Phil Foden has won the PFA Young Player of the Year award for the second consecutive season, having previously been presented with the accolade in 2020/21.

Foden played a major role as City won the Premier League title ahead of Liverpool, already the fourth of his fledgling career at the age of just 22.

The England international made 28 Premier League appearances, scoring nine times and registering five assists. Across all competitions, he finished with 25 goal involvements in 45 games.

As well as coming out on top in the Premier League, Foden’s City reached the semi-finals of both the FA Cup and Champions League.

Foden had already been named Premier League Young Player of the Season for 2021/22, another major award he had previously won in 2020/21.

Only a handful of players in the history of the PFA awards have been named Young Player of the Year in successive season. The last to do it was Dele Alli in 2017, with Foden joining an elite group of back-to-back winners that includes Wayne Rooney, Robbie Fowler and Ryan Giggs.
