Palmeiras go into Thursday’s match versus Botafogo just two points off of first-place Corinthians in Serie A. Corinthians were shocked by Cuiaba on Tuesday, losing 1-0. Now, Palmeiras can move into first place with a victory at home against Botafogo.
Botafogo will be out to stop Palmeiras from going top of the table. The Fire are 13th in the Serie A table ahead of the midweek match. Botafogo may be in the bottom half of the Serie A standings, but they are just six points off of first place.
A win for the Fire would possibly ignite a title fight going forward. Serie A is close with just eight points separating first-place Corinthians and 19th-place Juventude.
Palmeiras have a strong head-to-head record against Botafogo in the teams’ last six meetings. The Big Green have a record of 3W-2D-1L versus Botafogo. However, the Fire are unbeaten in their last two meetings with Palmeiras.
