The 90minutes newspaper quoted Paintsil on Monday as saying he had been given a 10,000 pound cash reward after marking out the Manchester United ace in Fulham’s 2-0 win but the Ghana defender has refuted the claims. Fulham spokeswoman Sarah Brookes said: “It is rubbish to suggest any of our players were given 10,000 pounds for beating Manchester United. None of them received any extra money.” The payment if it had happened would have been illegal under English Premier League rules which require that bonuses must be written into a player’s contract. Paintsil now claims he never told the newspaper anything and has asked for a retraction of the story or face legal action. “I want the complete fabrication retracted or I will ask my legal people to write and get the redress in court,” he told KickOffGhana.com.
