Paderborn finished last season with a decent run of form, losing just one of their last six league matches, having recorded four wins. A 3-0 defeat at Darmstadt on the final day of last season also ended a run of four straight clean sheets for the home side in the German second tier.
They also ended the season with a strong run of form on home soil, as they are unbeaten in six home matches in the Bundesliga.2, having recorded back-to-back home wins in the German second tier.
Karlsruhe
The visitors finished last season with a seven-game winless run in the Bundesliga.2, which meant they finished 12th place in the table.
The main reason for their poor league results at the end of last season was woeful defensive displays, as Karlsruhe conceded at least two goals in their last seven league matches of the campaign.
Their poor defensive displays led to high-scoring games, though, as six of their previous eight league games produced over 2.5 goals.
Their away record towards the end of last season was poor, too, as they suffered defeat in four of their final six league matches on their travels. Karlsruhe have also conceded at least two goals in eight of their last ten matches in the Bundesliga.2.
