President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has credited Ghana’s bronze achievement at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations to the “talent ID program” strategy.
Ghana defeated South Africa 4-3 to end the continental event in third place.
The position marked the Queen’s first WAFCON podium in nine years.
The GFA boss described the third-place finish as the result of years of strategic investment, including the introduction of the DNA Women’s Football Strategy, academy development, and expanded TV coverage for the Women’s Premier League.
“From the moment we developed the strategy, launched talent ID programs, and set up the academy in the north, we knew we were heading in the right direction,” he said.
“This bronze is proof that the investment is working.”
Kurt also stressed the need for patience and consistent support, calling the team’s performance a symbol of the “huge potential” in Ghana’s women’s game.
