Our goal is not to concede against Hansa Rostock – Ghanaian defender Daniel Heber

FC Magdeburg got off to a good start in the new season. There was nothing to suggest the typically tough second year after promotion, especially for the Elbe-based club.

Daniel Heber’s side has now gone seven games without a win. The German-born Ghanaian defender is aiming for a positive outcome in the forthcoming match against FC Hansa Rostock.

At the start of the season, eleven points after five games represented third place in the league. FC Magdeburg appeared to have done their homework in the summer, but the Elbestadters have only garnered two more points since then.

On Sunday, there will be a battle in the East with Hansa, with both teams desperate for a win. The loser faces 16th place – and hence the relegation zone.

“Our goal is to have a zero at the back. We aim to do that every game,” announced FCM defender Daniel Heber in the Bild newspaper.

“We won’t change the way we play now. It’s important to score goals in important situations,” he added.
