Black Stars head coach Otto Addo provided a sobering reflection on Ghana’s footballing decline in recent years.
Following the defeat to Sudan, Addo noted that the struggles go beyond the current AFCON qualifiers and have been a long-standing issue since the team’s failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.
“If you look at the last few years, since we didn’t qualify for the 2018 World Cup, we’ve been struggling as a country,”Addo said. “But we also qualified for the 2022 World Cup, and I believe this team has what it takes to rise again.”
Addo recognized the need for patience as the team goes through a rebuilding phase. He stressed that Ghana’s footballing journey is a long one, with highs and lows along the way.
Despite the current struggles, Addo remains confident in the squad’s ability to overcome these challenges.
“It’s a process, and the team will work and reflect on their failures. Sometimes, these tough situations can make teams even better,” he added.
