Ghana coach Otto Addo has cautioned his players and fans against complacency despite the team’s improved form in the Unity Cup.
After wins and draws against Trinidad and Tobago and Nigeria, Addo emphasized the need to stay humble and keep working.
“If anybody thinks we are already at the World Cup, I can guarantee you, it’s not like that,” he warned after Ghana thumped Trinidad and Tobago.
Ghana face crucial World Cup qualifying matches against Chad and Mali, aiming to maintain their group lead and secure a 2026 FIFA World Cup spot.
Addo stressed that consistency is key and the Unity Cup was an opportunity to test players and improve.
“This was a good opportunity to test players and improve, but there is still a lot of work to be done. The qualifiers will not be easy, and we must prepare with the right mindset and intensity,” he said.
Addo’s experience in football has taught him that nothing is guaranteed, and his team must work hard to fulfill their aim. “I have seen too many things in football and we really, really have to work hard to fulfil our aim,” he added.
