Otto Addo appoints German-born Ghanaian Francis Bugri to help with player monitoring and analysis –

Incoming Ghana coach Otto Addo has appointed German-born Ghanaian Francis Bugri to help in player monitoring and analysis.

Bugri, 41, has been tasked to monitor Ghanaian players across board ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The former Borussia Dortmund youth player is to also help with analysis as the gaffer begins to put his backroom staff in shape ahead of the qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup later in the year.

From scouts to analysts to the trainers, I have a very good team around me that I trust and that supports me very well. That’s the most important. My assistant coach Didi Dramani  takes care of many things on site,” he told

“Our Technical Advisor Chris Houghton  also does a lot of the work for me. My former teammate and good friend Francis Bugri forwards our elaborated plans to the appropriate departments.

“In the evenings we get together several times a week in zoom meetings and exchange ideas very closely and in detail. Of course, this is a challenge and for me it has a lot to do with the appropriate organization and controlling, but I think we handle it very well.

“During the day I’m completely on the BVB grounds for Borussia. Of course you talk to one or the other player in between, especially when the next games are coming up, like in June. But I do most things, phone calls, meetings, etc., in the evenings when the children are asleep. (laughs).”

Addo took over as Ghana coach after Milovan Rajevac failed to advance to the last 16 of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, finishing bottom of their group.

The Otto Addo led-technical team ended their contract with the Ghana Football Association after the 2022 World Cup playoffs.

The gaffer,  who has now gotten the permission to lead the Black Stars from his club Dortmund, will continue his role with George Boateng of Aston Villa U-23, Didi Dramani of Right to Dream and Chris Hughton as technical advisor.

Otto Addo will be on the touch line when Ghan host Madagascar in the opening game of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on June 1.

Ghana face Madagascar, Angola and Central Africa Republic in Group E of the qualifiers.

In the 2022 World Cup, the Black Stars will face Portugal, Uruguay and Korea Republic.

The Black Stars technical team will assess the squad during the qualifiers ahead of 2022 World Cup which kicks off in November.
