Sulley Muntari’s agent has debunked rumours that Premier Soccer League giants Orlando Pirates are interested in signing the former Inter and AC Milan midfielder, claiming Buccaneers wouldn’t sign a 37-year-old.
Reports went rife that Orlando Pirates were planning a bid for the Hearts of Oak midfielder following his impressive display this season.
But his agent has confirmed that the move will not happen due to his age. The former Black Stars midfielder will turn 38 in August.
“Look, there have been several reports from Ghana about the supposed potential signing of Sulley Muntari with Pirates but as someone who is based here in South Africa and close to Pirates and familiar with how the club operates, I doubt if there is any truth to those reports,” the agent told Soccer Laduma.
“The Pirates I know wouldn’t sign a 37-year-old because as far as I know the club is building for the future and therefore is targeting players who are much younger than that.”
Muntari has been a key cog of Samuel Boadu’s side this season despite joining the club half way through the way.
He has scored one goal and provided one assist in six league games for Hearts of Oak so far this season
He netted his first goal for the Phobians in their 2-1 win over WAFA on match week 19 of the Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium.
He put up an incredible performance in the President Cup a Hearts defeated Kotoko 2-1 to lift the trophy at the Accra Sports Stadium.
