Marseille start matchday No 19 in fine form with five straight Ligue 1 wins. On Saturday, OM will welcome sixth-place Lorient to the Stade Velodrome.

Lorient are unbeaten in back-to-back games in Ligue 1 ahead of the weekend. Les Merlus are sixth in the standings and just two points off fifth-place Monaco, who occupy the final European qualification place.

Marseille have a perfect six wins from six games record against Lorient in their last six meetings. OM picked up a 3-0 win earlier this season away to Lorient in Ligue 1.

Olympique led 1-0 at halftime thanks to a goal from Bamba Dieng. Matteo Gundouzi added a second goal just after halftime. Marseille’s Gerson scored a third on 67 minutes to send OM to the win by a 3-0 score. Two yellow cards were handed out in the match as OM posted a 68.9% possession rate.

Marseille are Ligue 1’s form team with 16 points from their last six games. Manager Igor Tudor has done wonders with OM this season. The team scored 16 goals and conceded just six times across the last six games. Olympique are on a two-game winning streak at the Velodrome.

Lorient picked up five points from the last six games, as went on a rotten run of form in the league. Les Merlus were outscored 10-7 across their last six games. Lorient are on a two-match unbeaten streak in the league, so results are picking up ahead of the trip to the Velodrome.

Les Merlus play much better on the road than at home. Eighteen of their 32 points have come away from home in Ligue 1 this season.

Les Merlus are unbeaten in six straight road games ahead of the trip to Marseille. However, Marseille are on a three-game home winning streak against Lorient.

Lorient manager Regis Le Bris is unlikely to have defender Julien Laporte due to a hamstring injury. Midfielder Theo Le Bris is also expected to miss out due to a sprained ankle.

Tudor won’t have defender Nuno Tavares due to a suspension and defender Jonathan Clauss has a groin strain and is out until late January. Midfielder Dimitri Payet has an ankle injury and isn’t likely to play. Midfielder Amine Harit is out for the season with an ACL injury.

Marseille won their last six games against Lorient. OM should continue their fine form against Les Merlus with a 3-1 win at home in Ligue 1.
