Board Chairman of Okwawu United, Samuel Anim Addo, has expressed confidence that his team will secure promotion to the National Division One League in the upcoming season.
Currently playing in the Eastern Region Division Two League, Okwawu United has had a successful run in Zone 5, sitting comfortably in second place with 29 points after 11 games. The team is only a point behind the league leaders, Port City.
According to Anim Addo, the club has been making massive progress, and he is optimistic that they will secure a spot in the Division One League next season.
“Okwawu United is moving forward and doing well, and under my tutelage, they will undoubtedly qualify for the Division One League,” he said in a recent interview with Asempa FM.
The team’s past performances have not been remarkable, with their only notable achievement being two appearances in the CAF Cup Winners in 1987, where they made it to the second round, and in 2001, where they withdrew from the competition.
However, Anim Addo’s leadership has brought renewed hope and belief in the team’s potential to excel. Okwawu United has been consistent in their performances, winning seven of their 11 games so far this season, drawing four and losing none.
The board chairman’s confidence in the team’s ability to secure promotion is shared by fans and supporters of the club, who believe that Okwawu United has what it takes to compete at the highest level.
With the team’s recent successes and their chairman’s unwavering support, Okwawu United could very well be on their way to the Division One League and beyond.
