Ghana are due to play England at Wembley on March 29 after they have engaged Congo in a Nations Cup qualifier in Brazzaville the preceding weekend.
Sudan lead Ghana on goal-difference in the Nations Cup qualifiers having drawn in Kumasi, and the Stars could fall further behind in the standings unless they take maximum points against Congo.
But that game has had little mention as the excitement in Ghana builds up to the meeting at Wembley.
“The players have been talking about the England game a lot, but it is our duty to remind them that there is a more important game in the larger scheme of things to play a few days before. There are points at stake in Congo, a Nations Cup place to fight for, and that is very importing,” Nyantekyie tells KickOffGhana.com.
The meeting with England will be the first between the two countries at senior level. The high-profile of the English Premier League and the huge popularity of their star names has all fueled interest in the competition, with Samuel Inkoom telling KickOffGhana.com that “games like this come around once in a while”.
Travel agencies are also hoping to make a windfall promising an experience of a lifetime to Wembley for the game in adverts that are popping up on a daily basis.
