Former Black Stars head coach James Kwesi Appiah has expressed strong belief in Ghana’s chances of making a deep run at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking on Akoma FM, the Ghanaian tactician, who currently leads Sudan’s national team, backed the Black Stars to progress from their group and compete confidently against top opposition.
“All the teams in the group are beatable, and no team at the World Cup should be underrated,” Appiah said. “We only pray that our players stay fit before and during the tournament. Nothing is impossible, and Ghana can go far.”
Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama after securing qualification for the tournament, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Kwesi Appiah stressed that proper preparation will be crucial if the Black Stars are to live up to expectations on the world stage.
He also urged the team to approach every match with a winning mindset, insisting that belief and mentality will play a major role in determining how far Ghana progress at the expanded 2026 finals.
