“No Panic” — Tanko Urges Calm as Medeama’s Lead Shrinks

Head coach Ibrahim Tanko has called for calm at Medeama SC despite seeing their once commanding lead at the top of the Ghana Premier League dramatically reduced.

The Tarkwa-based side have watched a nine-point advantage shrink to just one point after a difficult run of four matches without a victory.

Medeama have collected only three points from their last four games, drawing against Swedru All Blacks, FC Samartex 1996 and Aduana FC before suffering a 2–1 defeat to Nations FC.

At the same time, defending champions Bibiani Gold Stars have surged into the title picture with four straight victories, moving to 45 points, just one behind Medeama’s 46.

Despite the sudden pressure, Tanko insists there is no cause for panic in his camp.

“It’s disturbing, but we don’t have to press any panic button,” he said.

The former assistant coach of the Ghana national football team believes the title race remains wide open with 10 matches still to play.

“We still have 10 games, five home, five away, and definitely all of us have very tough matches. Bibiani will come to us, we will also go to play Accra Hearts of Oak.”

Tanko emphasized that his side must focus on the remaining fixtures rather than dwelling on their recent struggles.

“We have to concentrate on the last 10 games and then try to win our matches, especially starting on Sunday against Hohoe United.”

With the Ghana Premier League title race now finely balanced, every match carries huge significance.
