Medeama SC midfielder Prosper Boakye Owusu credits coach Ibrahim Tanko with bringing a sense of urgency and competition to the team.
Tanko joined the club mid-season and helped the team finish strong despite missing out on the league title.
According to Owusu, Tanko’s approach is performance-based, with no player guaranteed a starting role.
“He selects players based on performance,” Owusu said in an interview with Medeama FM. “You won’t get the nod to play if you are unable to impress at training.”
Owusu praised Tanko for introducing new strategies and changing the team’s dynamics, which boosted their confidence.
Under Tanko’s leadership, training sessions became more intense, with players competing for starting roles.
“Under Tanko, there is no player who is guaranteed a starting role,” Owusu said. “You only play when you perform at training. You could see a lot of urgency at training because of what he brought on board.”
