Asante Kotoko’s management has rubbished widespread media reports suggesting that a new substantive head coach is set to be appointed, insisting no such decision has been made.
Speaking on Akoma 87.9 FM, the club’s Communications Manager, Sarfo Duku, clarified that no discussions have taken place with any coach regarding a permanent appointment.
“We (management) have not considered employing a substantive head coach. We are startled by the names being circulated in the media, as we have not had any discussions with any coaches,” he said.
Duku emphasized that while anything is possible in football; including the potential promotion of interim coach Karim Zito or the appointment of an entirely new face ; such a move would only happen after the current season concludes and following thorough consultations with relevant stakeholders.
“In football, anything is possible. Karim Zito could take over as head coach, or a new coach could be chosen, but this would only happen after the season and after multiple talks with the coaches and essential stakeholders.”
For now, Duku insists the club’s focus remains firmly on their ambition to secure a domestic double.
“Our goal of winning the double remains intact, and that is our primary focus right now.”
Kotoko’s coaching situation has been a hot topic in recent weeks, but the club has now made it clear that no decisions will be rushed, as they continue their push for glory this season.
