Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Daniel Nii Adjei credits the club with shaping his career during his playing days. Nii Adjei played for Kotoko from 2007 to 2012, winning three Ghana Premier League titles before moving to TP Mazembe, where he won the CAF Champions League.
He later won the CAF Confederation Cup twice with Wydad Casablanca. Currently the assistant coach of Heart of Lions, Nii Adjei attributes his success to Kotoko’s high standards.
“Asante Kotoko shaped my career. Players are criticized heavily for every defeat and that makes you strong as a player. You always have to fight for the victory always,” he said.
Nii Adjei’s experience at Kotoko prepared him for bigger stages, and he had an illustrious career.
Now, as a coach, he’s applying the lessons he learned. In the recent season, Nii Adjei played a key role in helping Heart of Lions finish second in the Ghana Premier League table. His time at Kotoko remains a significant part of his journey.
