Spanish-Ghanaian winger Nico Williams has expressed pride in his brother Iñaki Williams, backing him to lead Athletic Club for years to come.

Iñaki, 31, was named club captain earlier this year following the departure of Óscar De Marcos. Speaking after signing a contract extension through 2035, Nico called Iñaki “a role model” and “the best person” for the armband.

“We’ve always dreamed of this. I’m proud to see him lead, and I hope he does so for a long time,” Nico said.

He also pledged his full commitment to the Basque club: “I want to give everything back to the fans. This is for them.”
