Chairman of Asante Kotoko’s Interim Management Committee (IMC), Nana Apinkrah, has called on the government to lend its full backing to the club as they gear up for the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup.
The Porcupine Warriors secured their return to continental football after winning the MTN FA Cup, and will represent Ghana in Africa’s second-tier club competition when the tournament kicks off in September.
Speaking after Kotoko’s President’s Cup victory over Hearts of Oak, Apinkrah appealed to Sports Minister Kofi Adams, who had visited the team’s dressing room to congratulate and motivate the players, to extend government support to the club.
“The road to Africa is long and demanding. We need your full support; not just personally, but officially through you to the government. We must prepare well to make Ghana proud. In countries like South Africa, clubs have real backing and sponsorships. We deserve the same
Kotoko are expected to begin preparations immediately, with the CAF Confederation Cup’s first round scheduled between September 19–21.
As part of their buildup, the club is set to face Kaizer Chiefs in the Toyota Cup in South Africa next month.
