Nagelsmann: ‘My wife says I call players’ names in my sleep’

Here’s a self-confessed football addict. Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann has admitted his work is a serious obsession.

The former RB Leipzig earned his dream move to the German giants after emerging as the best manager in the Bundesliga. He finished third in 2018/19 and 2019/20. The 34-year-old also took Leipzig to the semi-finals of last season’s UEFA Champions League.

It is therefore no big surprise to learn that Nagelsmann takes his work to serious extremes.

During a chat with the leading Germain publication Bild, he revealed that he often struggles to switch off from the game.

“Sometimes when I’m sleeping after a game I call out the names of my players,” Nagelsmann said.

“My wife once told me that. Sometimes it wakes her up in the night.”

Meanwhile, Bayern are now training to take on his former side Leipzig in the Bundesliga this weekend.
