My time at Djurgården was amazing – Kofi Asare

Kofi Asare decided to join Djurgrden instead of AIK. But in the Allsvenskan, he was never given the opportunity. He has no regrets in spite of that.

In advance of 2022, offensive player Kofi Asare, 20, transferred from Djurgrden IF to Sandvikens IF.

In 23 games this season, he scored five goals in the Ettan Norra. The Superettan team Landskrona BoIS just signed him.

Despite training with the team, the talented player was never given the opportunity to play for Djurgarden’s first team.

“Quite honestly: Yes, actually. I was a little surprised. I really thought I would get the chance, but unfortunately,” Asare told HD.se.

Asare transferred from Hammarby IF to DIF at the age of 17. But AIK was a possibility as well.

“I have many friends who play in AIK. I have heard and seen that it is, unfortunately, easier to progress in AIK as a young player. Many people said to me: “You should choose AIK instead, because you would have had the chance with the A team there”. But I wanted to write my own story,”

“No, I have learned a lot in Djurgården. My time there was amazing. Sometimes it just doesn’t turn out the way you want,”

A three-year agreement between Asare and Landskrona is in place.
