Muntari was back in the Stars line-up after missing two games and while that would normally be no big deal, it was more than just another match for the Inter Milan midfielder after his June of hell at the hands of Ghanaian fans. The player was accused of feigning injury to miss two games in Mali and Sudan as his overall commitment to Ghana was questioned. But after scoring one and setting up another in the 4-1 win over Zambia, the midfielder insisted he had not felt the need to prove a point. “From where I stand it was another important game for Ghana and I was happy to play a part in it. It is always nice to score but it feels even better at international level,” he told KickOffGhana.com. “I did not think I had to prove anyone wrong but of course issues like what happened in June are never far from your thoughts,” he adds. With his Ghana burden now lifted, Muntari says he will return to Italy in a perfect state of mind for what could be his most challenging season yet.
