Rayo Vallecano coach Íñigo Pérez has revealed that Ghanaian defender Abdul Mumin is making good progress in his recovery from ACL, but cautioned against rushing his return.
“He’s close, but we mustn’t rush,” Pérez said, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing Mumin’s full recovery.
Mumin, a key figure in Rayo Vallecano’s defense, has been sidelined with an injury since 2025 and Pérez is keen to ensure he returns to full fitness before rejoining the team.
The 26-year-old had been impressive in the 2024/25 season, scoring two goals and providing an assist in 24 appearances.
Pérez has previously praised Mumin’s form, stating he’s having a “sensational season” and is “playing at a high level”.
With Mumin’s contract set to expire in 2026, Rayo Vallecano has opened contract talks with the defender, offering a new three-year deal until 2029.
