Mubarak Wakaso in Ghana's squad for next month's World Cup qualifiers - will arrive late

Spain-based midfielder Mubarak Wakaso is among Ghana players invited for crucial 2014 World Cup qualifiers next month, his club Espanyol have revealed.

But the La Liga side say the hard tackling midfielder will join the Black Stars camp late because he will play his final game of the season for the club on 1 June.

Ghana will start their camping in Accra on Monday 27th May for the matches against Sudan and Lesotho.

This means Wakaso will have join the Black Stars training camp in Ethiopia by 3 June.

The midfielder will play in the match against Celta Vigo at the Balaidos at 9pm local time which will make difficult for him to catch a flight early by Sunday 2nd June.

Ghana will play Sudan on 7th June before they face Lesotho in Maseru on 16 June.

The Black Stars will pitch camp in Ethiopia and South Africa to prepare for next month’s crucial 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Sudan and Lesotho.

They had originally planned to camp in Kenya and play a friendly against the Harambee Stars on 1 June.

But they opted out of the friendly citing the unavailability of some players.

Coach Kwesi Appiah has now announced that his team will camp in Addis Ababa and Johannesburg ahead of the matches against Sudan and Lesotho respectively.

High altitude training in Addis Ababa will put the Black Stars in shape for the game against Sudan and Lesotho where the altitude is also high.

Camping in Johannesburg will also keep the Black Stars in shape for the high altitude in Maseru ahead of the match against Lesotho.

The Black Stars will train in Ghana from their various homes for three days before departing to Ethiopia where they will be camped before the match against Sudan on 7 June.

The Black Stars must win their matches against Sudan and Lesotho to have a strong chance of topping the group to reach the final phase of the World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana are currently second in Group B with six points – one point adrift of Zambia who top the table thanks to a protest they won over Sudan.
