Maria Arthuer, the mother of Nico Williams and Inaki Williams, has disclosed that she was unable to handle the tension of the Copa del Rey final penalties and had to hide in the bathroom.
The Basque team emerged victorious in the tournament, with the Williams brothers playing a crucial role, thanks to the guidance of their mother.
“We were confident that we would win the Copa del Rey today,” Maria Arthuer said. “However, when the penalties started, I had to leave and hide in the bathroom as I couldn’t bear to watch,” she added.
Arthuer was informed about her team’s victory by a fellow fan in the stadium. “A lady came to me and said ‘yes, we won!’ That’s when I came out of the bathroom and rejoiced in the victory,” she noted.
The final whistle was blown by the referee after Alex Berenguer’s successful penalty conversion, and Maria Arthuer rushed to the field to celebrate the triumph with her sons, Nico and Inaki.
