Captain Andre Ayew became the most-capped England international when she makes her 110th appearance in Black Stars’ 2-0 friendly win over Switzerland on Thursday.
The 32-year-old overtook his predecessor Asamoah Gyan to top the list of players with the most caps at the national team level.
For this feat, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) presented a commemorative jersey to Andre after the match at Zayed Sports Complex in Abu Dhabi.
Andre Ayew made his debut in August 2007 against Senegal in an international friendly and went on to win the 2009 Fifa U-20 World Cup – Africa’s first title at that age level.
In his 110 caps, the Al Sadd attacker has 23 goals for Ghana so far.
Andre Ayew was a member of Ghana’s silver medal team at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola and the quarterfinal squad at the Fifa World Cup in South Africa later that year.
He has played in six Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and is now set to lead Ghana as captain for his third participation in the Fifa World Cup finals – after 2010 and 2014.
The Black Stars will face Portugal in their opening match on Thursday, November 24 before taking on South Korea and Uruguay in the other Group H matches.
