Montpellier set to start the new Ligue One campaign with a win

421

On Sunday afternoon, Montpellier hosts Troyes at the Stade de la Mosson as both teams look to kick off their Ligue One season 2022/23 campaign with a victory.

Montpellier

The home team have endured a difficult pre-season, as they have suffered five straight defeats in the warm-up games for the new French league season.

To make matters worse, Montpellier has also conceded at least two goals in their last four outings.  The results are not the best preparation for another gruelling Ligue One campaign.

Montpellier also finished last season with an awful run of form in Ligue One, failing to win in their last nine league matches, having suffered seven defeats in the process.

A poor defensive record was their biggest downfall last season, as Montpellier conceded at least two goals in their final six matches of the Ligue One campaign.

The home side also failed to win any of their final seven home games of last season, suffering four defeats and picking up just three draws.

Troyes

The visitors finished in 15th place in Ligue One last season, just six points clear of the relegation zone.

They have endured a slightly better pre-season than their opponents, although they have still lost three of their four matches in the run-up to this clash.

Troyes ended last season with a poor run of form in Ligue One, as they won just one of their final eight games of last season in the French top-flight.

The visitor’s end-of-season away form in Ligue One was poor, as they didn’t win any of their final five league games on their travels.

What does Forebet predict?

Predict predicts that Montpellier will record a narrow win in a high-scoring encounter to end their recent poor run of form.
