Mohammed Salisu has become the first defender to score for Ghana in World Cup history.
The 23 year old centre-back was on target for the Black Stars in a thrilling 3-2 win over South Korea on Monday.
He broke the deadlock in the 24th minute at the Education City Stadium to set his team on course for a crucial victory.
Salisu took centre stage midway through the half when he was perfectly positioned to prod home Jordan Ayew’s wide delivery that had pin-balled around the box.
The win keeps the Black Stars’ hopes of qualification alive, lifting them into second in the group behind Portugal who face Uruguay on Monday night.
Salisu made his international debut back in September, playing in a 3-0 defeat to Brazil before helping Otto Addo’s side to a 1-0 victory over Nicaragua.
