Mohamed Salah is set to become one of the highest-paid players in Turkish football after completing his move to Trabzonspor on a two-year contract worth $19.6m (£15.2m) per season.
The 34-year-old Egypt captain signed the agreement on Thursday, 6 August, having passed his medical examination the previous day.
Trabzonspor confirmed the financial details in a statement, saying Salah’s package would include his annual salary, a 20% share of revenue from merchandise sold in his name and additional performance-related bonuses.
Salah joins the Turkish Super Lig club as a free agent after bringing an end to a nine-year spell with Liverpool. During his time at Anfield, he won two Premier League titles and became regarded as one of the greatest players in the club’s history.
His move to Trabzonspor represents a major financial commitment for the club. Once bonuses are included, his overall package is comparable to the reported $28m he earned during his final season with Liverpool.
Salah’s arrival follows the conclusion of a highly successful period in England, where he established himself as a central figure for Liverpool. The Egypt international’s departure came after almost a decade with the Premier League club, before he agreed terms with Trabzonspor.
The Turkish side have also confirmed that Salah will wear the number 10 shirt.
He scored twice for Egypt during their run to the round-of-16 stage at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. His performances at the tournament came before his move to Trabzonspor was formally completed.
The contract gives Salah a guaranteed annual income of $19.6m, while the commercial arrangement provides him with a share of sales generated through merchandise bearing his name. The agreement also contains bonuses linked to performance, meaning the final value of the deal could rise beyond the basic salary.
Salah’s transfer was completed after he became available without a transfer fee following the end of his Liverpool contract. Trabzonspor’s agreement with the forward will run for two years, with the club confirming the signing after his medical was successfully completed.
The move marks the next stage of Salah’s career after nine seasons at Liverpool, where his achievements included two Premier League titles. He will now continue his career in the Turkish Super Lig, with the number 10 shirt and a substantial financial package forming part of Trabzonspor’s announcement.
His salary, commercial rights and performance incentives were all included in the terms released by the club, while his status as Egypt captain and his record at Liverpool underline the profile of Trabzonspor’s latest signing.
