The New Patriotic Party, NPP MPs have presented GHS 100,000 cash gift to the Black Queens for their success at the 2024 Women’s African Cup of nations (WAFCON).
This presentation was done during the team’s visitation to parliament on Tuesday as part of their activities after returning from the tournament Morocco.
Addressing the parliament, Minority Leader Afenyo Markin led the minority caucus in presenting a physical cash gift of GHS 100,000 to the senior women’s team in a symbolic gesture of solidarity and encouragment
“Mr. Speaker, while we’ve heard many words of commendation, tangible financial support has yet to follow. We, the Minority Members of Parliament, are humbled yet proud to be the first to publicly recognize the dedication of the Black Queens by donating GH₵100,000 to the team,” he stated.
This gift stems from the team’s impressive performance in the tournament, particularly their ability to reach the semi-finals for the first time since 2016.
The team annexed bronze in the semi-finals of the competition.
