The Black Stars camped for only two weeks before departing for the tournament in the Ivory Coast.
In the build-up to the competition meant for home-based players, several players left the country to ply their trade abroad, which left the team short.
Striker Eric Bekoe signed for Egyptian side Petrojet while defenders John Boye and Hannan Giwa also landed moves abroad.
New players were called to the team while their group opponents Libya, DR Congo, and Zimbabwe have had somewhat of the same side for their national team for the past five years.
Rajevac says the Black Stars have shown that they can truly stand up to the challenge in adversity.
“The players have done really well because if you look at the side that started the CHAN qualifiers, it is not the same team now,” Rajevac told KickOffGhana.com.
“The squad has evolved because players like Bekoe and Boye all left the country, but those who have replaced them have shown their worth.
“Our opponents have had the same national teams for over five years, but we came here to stand up and be counted with only two weeks of preparation.
“Now we have excelled among these top sides so the players must be congratulated but there is more to come.”
Ghana will meet Senegal in the last four in Bouake on Wednesday, while DR Congo travels to Abidjan to face Group A winners Zambia.
