Ghana international midfielder Michael Essien was in action for AC Milan as they defeated Argentine side San Lorenzon to win the Berlusconi Trophy on Wednesday night.Â
The 31-year-old was fielded in the Milan starting line-up by manager Filippo Inzaghi and he lasted for the entire first-half.
In the halve Essien played, before Milan made wholesome changes, the Rossoneris took a 1-0 lead.
Giampaolo Pazzini sidefooted home Riccardo Saponara’s deflected cross from close range to open the scoring on the half hour mark.
Before the player who replaced Essien added the second in the second-half.
Giacomo Bonaventura sealed the match five minutes from time, after Fernando Torres’ strike was parried into his path.
Sulley Muntari was not in the Milan squad for the game as they defeated Pope Francis’ favorite team.
The friendly match is usually played against Juventus in August but had to be rescheduled and was instead played against the Copa Libertadores holders.
