Ghanaian midfielder Michael Baidoo is set to leave Plymouth Argyle just six months after joining the English club.
According to reports, Baidoo is close to finalizing a move to Qatari side Umm Salal SC, who finished as runners-up in the top flight.
The 26-year-old’s time at Plymouth has been underwhelming, with only 13 appearances in the second half of the Championship season, failing to secure a regular starting spot.
Plymouth’s relegation to League One has further complicated Baidoo’s stay, and a move to Umm Salal SC could provide him with more consistent playing time and a stable environment to revive his career.
The Qatari league’s growing reputation and financial attractiveness make it an appealing option for Baidoo.
Baidoo joined Plymouth from Swedish side IF Elfsborg in January 2025 in a deal worth around 1.7-1.8 million Euros, plus performance-based bonuses.
If the transfer goes through, it will mark another significant chapter in Baidoo’s career, which has seen him play in Norway, Sweden, and England.
