Meteors brimming with confidence

Stand-in Olympic coach Kwasi Appiah has picked a squad dominated by winners of the 2009 FIFA Under-20 World Cup and is confident they can get the better of their arch-rivals Nigeria in Benin City this weekend.

Goalkeepers Joseph Addo and Daniel Adjei have all made the step up. Daniel Opare, Samuel Inkoom, David Addy, Emmanuel Agyemen Badu, Dominic Adiyiah and Daniel Addo have all been included.

Ghana is desperate to make amends for a string failures a junior level this year and the call-ups by Appiah reflects that.

Many of the players have also had to forgo their holidays to get ready for the game and striker Jordan Ayew from Olympic Marseille Say they are more than up for the game.

“We have been training hard and the mood here is great,” he told KickOffGhana.com. “We feel very confident that we can win there.”
