Medeama to drag B. Chelsea coach to court over failure to refund signing on-fee

Medeama have threatened to take legal action against their former head coach Yusif Abubakar for illegally terminating his contract with the club.

Abubakar signed a two-year contract with the Tarkwa-based side but quit his post after just a season to sign for Berekum Chelsea.

Officials of the Mauves and Yellows are now demanding a refund of the remainder of the signing on fee paid to the ex-Wassaman trainer.

“We have written to him and demanded that he refunds the money owe the club. We had a contract with him and he abrogated it,” medeama PRO Stephen Pennah told host of Asempa sports morning show host Moses Antwi Benefo.

“There was a binding clause in the contract and so he knows what to do. The matter has been referred to our lawyers and they will deal with it.

“We had a cordial relationship with him (Abubakar) and do no believe it should degenerate into anything nasty.

“Both parties agreed to adhere to terms of reference in the contract and so if he has decided to move on it is only proper he refunds our money.

“But if he refuses the laws of the land will take it natural course.”
