Martin Koopman was hired based on his experience and maturity – Hearts of Oak board

In a bid to quell the rising storm of controversy surrounding the departure of former coach Martin Koopman, the Hearts of Oak board convened a press conference on December 4th, 2023, staunchly defending their decision to hire Koopman based on what they termed “experience and maturity.”

The board’s response comes in the wake of serious allegations leveled by Koopman, who parted ways with the Phobians amidst a turbulent spell marked by a string of disappointing results.

“We went in for Koopman because we were looking for a coach with maturity and a coach with experience,” the Board said.

“He came up on top of the list of coaches before he was hired,”

In match week 13 the Accra-based club tasted defeat against Aduana Stars. The league leaders beat Hearts of Oak 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.

The Phobians are currently 9th on the league table with 16 points after 13 games.

Accra Hearts of Oak will take on arch-rivals Asante Kotoko in their next league game.
