Manchester United fans will love what Raphael Varane has said about Erik ten Hag

Manchester United’s Raphael Varane has been discussing Erik ten Hag this week and Red Devils fans will be pleased to hear what the Frenchman had to say.

Ten Hag took charge of United’s pre-season a few weeks back and managed his first game for his new club on Tuesday vs Liverpool.

Manchester United dominated the tie and came away with a staggering 4-0 win over their arch-rivals.

Following the game, despite only working with Ten Hag for a short period, Varane insisted that Manchester United know exactly how they want to play:

“We know exactly how we want to play,” the France international told reporters. “The manager explained very well what we have to do and it’s absolutely clear.

“So we know we have to be very fit because it’s a very physical way to play.”

“We are happy with the result, obviously, but we know we have to work very hard to be ready for the start of the season.

“We’re working a lot, so we try to be absolutely ready for the beginning of the season.

“This is just the start of the pre-season, so it’s just the beginning, but we know exactly where we want to go.”

When further pressed on the style of play United adopted, Varane admitted it would take a high level of fitness to be able to keep it up next season.

He added: “We tried to keep the ball in possession and we tried to press very high on the pitch, so this is a very physical style.

“That’s why we know we have to work very hard in training sessions and we try to be ready.”
